Terms of Service — iOS App
Why this page is separate. These Terms apply to your use of the timelines.me iOS app distributed on the Apple App Store. The web version at timelines.me/terms is operated by a different legal entity (263 Napse SRL) and has its own terms.
1. Agreement
By downloading, installing, or using the timelines.me iOS app ("App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"), Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA), and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Provider
The iOS App is provided by Gheorghe Gabriel Popa, acting as an individual sole proprietor ("Provider", "we", "us"), registered at Str. Sibiului 263, 555301 Cisnădioara, Sibiu, Romania. Contact: contact@timelines.me.
3. Relationship With Apple
Apple Inc. is not a party to these Terms and has no responsibility for the App or its content. These Terms are solely between you and the Provider. However, you acknowledge that:
- Apple may enforce these Terms as a third-party beneficiary.
- In the event of any conflict between these Terms and Apple's EULA, Apple's EULA controls for matters it addresses (license scope, device limits, jailbreaking, etc.).
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the App.
- Any claim that the App fails to conform to applicable warranty may be directed to Apple; Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the App but otherwise has no further warranty obligations.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use this App. If you are between 13 and 18, you must have parental or guardian consent. By using the App, you represent that you meet these requirements.
5. Account
To use the App, you must authenticate via Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. We do not store passwords. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your third-party account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
6. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases
6.1 Pro Subscription
The App offers an optional Pro subscription with the following options:
- Pro Monthly — charged monthly at the price displayed on the App Store, renewing automatically unless cancelled.
- Pro Annual — charged yearly at the price displayed on the App Store, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, renewing automatically unless cancelled.
Prices are set per country and shown in your local currency on the App Store at the moment of purchase.
6.2 Payment and Billing
All subscription purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The Provider does not receive your payment details — Apple does.
6.3 Auto-renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew for the same period (monthly or annually) at the then-current price unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
6.4 Managing and Cancelling
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in the iOS Settings app (Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions), or directly in the timelines.me app under Settings → Manage subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Pro features until then. No partial refunds are given for unused time.
6.5 Free Trial (Pro Annual)
The Pro Annual plan offers a 7-day free trial for new subscribers only. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your Apple ID will be charged for the first year. You can cancel at any time during the trial with no charge.
6.6 Refunds
All refund requests for in-app purchases must be directed to Apple. The Provider cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple's decision is final.
6.7 Restore Purchases
If you reinstall the App or use it on a new device, tap Restore purchases in the Settings screen to re-link your Pro subscription to your timelines.me account.
7. Your Content
7.1 Ownership
You retain full ownership of all content you create in the App — timelines, events, descriptions, uploaded photos. We claim no intellectual property rights over your content.
7.2 License to Operate
By using the App, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, encrypt, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the App to you. This license terminates when you delete your content or account.
7.3 Prohibited Content
You may not use the App to store or distribute content that:
- Violates any applicable law or regulation
- Infringes on intellectual property rights of others
- Contains malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Promotes violence, hatred, or discrimination
- Involves exploitation of minors
- Constitutes spam or unsolicited commercial communications
- Impersonates another person or entity
- Objectionable content as defined in Apple's App Store guidelines
Per Apple App Store Review Guideline 1.2 (User-Generated Content), we maintain a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content. Users can report objectionable content or abusive users in-app via the Settings screen; we review reports within 24 hours and take appropriate action including content removal and account termination.
8. Data Export and Deletion
You may export all your data at any time in a machine-readable JSON format through the App's Settings screen (Export all data). Upon account deletion, all data is permanently removed immediately.
9. Encryption
Your timeline data is encrypted at rest using post-quantum cryptography (Kyber1024 KEM + AES-256-GCM). Encryption keys are stored separately from encrypted data. While we take every reasonable measure to protect your data, in the unlikely event of key loss or corruption, encrypted data may become permanently inaccessible. We strongly recommend using the data export feature regularly as a backup.
10. Availability
The App is provided "as is" and "as available". We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We are not liable for any downtime, data loss, or service interruptions.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Provider shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising from your use of the App. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid through the App Store in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Modifications
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified via the App or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you disagree with changes, you may delete your account.
13. Termination
You may terminate your use of the App at any time by deleting your account in the Settings screen. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, applicable law, or Apple's policies.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania and applicable European Union consumer protection law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of Sibiu, Romania, without prejudice to your rights under EU consumer protection law to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
